Bug that only shows during normal execution. As soon as you do anything to find its source, it no longer manifests. These are a real PITA to find. Usually timing-sensitive.

Well, there’s a bit to that. However, what I lament is that the show made him into a kind of weakling loser. Basically. Just a nerd who can only regurgitate arcane facts. Then they put him in charge of a baby. Pathetic. At least they could have made it so that his intelligence was put to good use in the Crystal Empire. Like maybe he becomes the equivalent of a grand vizier to Cadence and Shining Armor. Or maybe he becomes the formost expert on how to utilize magical artifacts. My point is that there was a lot of potential in his character, and the show just squanders it Oh well, they did the same to so many other characters. It’s ok though, since my headcanon overcomes all this.

Wielder of UNDERSTANDING of magic? Already is, but you got to put in the hours to stay at the top of your game.
Dude out “I know stuff”-ed two persons over the age of 1,000, the brightest rising star (pun not intended, but welcome since it showed up) in all history, AND the warmage who once fought said rising star to a stand-still.
Dude is up there with Stygian to me as far as “brains don’t ALWAYS need to be paired with arcane power to stand beside the mightest heroes and contribute meaningfully.”.
Then again, you probably just meant that he needs to internalize what I just said…
