Real world snipers are deadly because they weaponise mathematics and physics. And Twiley knows oh so much of it. Also, while not absolutely mandatory, they tend to have a binocular-equipped spotter to lead the target.
Spike as a spotter and Twilight as sniper would make a terrifying duo together.
The attention to many details (real world snipers carry a calculator) and then requiring great skill to follow through on what those details say should be done means that both a real-world gun enthusiast and IIRC more than one TF2 mash-up artist pair up Twilight and sniping. Although I’ve also seen Rarity with a matchlock (flintlock?) rifle and a bow. Those don’t require as much smarts (although getting a matchlock to actually fire require some set-up), and in terms of TF2 Rarity’s elegance and social manipulations make her too good match for Spy for her to end up as Sniper.
Because ponies don’t kill ponies; guns kill ponies. She needs a gun so she can wash her hooves clean after every genocide.
Why not push them with magic too and get rid of that boomstick?
