[a] I’m not sure this suffix means what I think it means. I THINK it means a spouse of a ruler who is not, themselves, invested with much if any authority by virtue of their marriage. A useful concept for immortal Princesses for whom heirs are of little concern, and who may not wish to constrain their choices of husbands to those skilled in management or politics.
Yeah. It’s mostly used for the husbands of ruling queens; the wife of a ruling king is a queen in general.
